Cammer .404" Sear
Cammer .404" SearTM
The Cammer Sear tip maintains constant distance of .404" from sear pin center. NEUTRAL ENGAGEMENT with hammer hooks throughout sear movement to release. Neither positive/captive (hammer is lifted with sear movement) nor negative/release (hammer lowers with sear movement). CNC'd by Evolution Gun Works for Cammer Technologies.
Ready to install in your 1911 model pistol
- Sear tip maintains constant distance of .404” from sear pin center
- NEUTRAL ENGAGEMENT with hammer hooks throughout sear movement to release
- Neither positive/captive (hammer is lifted with sear movement)
- Nor negative/release (hammer lowers with sear movement)
- Yields smooth trigger pulls whether hooks are cut at 86 or 90 degrees
- No need for costly jigs or specialized stoning skills
- CNC’d by Evolution Gun Works for Cammer Technologies LLC
- All arrangements of 1911 sear and hammer hooks involve movement of the sear from beneath the hooks until release
- The goal is movement that is undetectable to the shooter’s finger
- Typical sears are stoned with flat primary and (most often) secondary angles
- These flat-stoned surfaces must move from beneath the flat hooks in an arc about the sear pin center
- Such configurations cannot achieve a preferred neutral relationship
- They will be either positive or negative—transitioning most often from one to the other
- Variables affecting quality of the final trigger pull with the .404” sear—and therefore adjustable by the custom pistol smith are:
- Height of hammer hooks
- Smoothness of engagement surfaces
- Sear spring tension
- Main spring weight
- The .404” sear is held in engagement by the forces of friction and sear spring tension
- Secondary/release angles are not necessary with the .404” sear, but may be added by the custom pistol smith as desired
- U.S. Ordnance specs call for sear length of .4045” - .003”
